The West Penn Trail Triathlon is back! We’re all very excited and can’t wait to see everyone again.
The triathlon is an adventure race like no other! Designed to showcase the natural beauty of the West Penn Trail and the region’s abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation, this chip-timed race features kayaking, biking, and running. The event takes place in Historic Saltsburg, PA, a charming town with links to the PA Mainline Canal and access to both the West Penn Trail and Westmoreland Heritage Trails. It sits at the confluence of the Conemaugh River, Loyalhanna Creek, and the Kiskiminetas River, which provide ample opportunities for kayaking and fishing.
Racers may compete solo or in teams of two or three as they traverse river and trail. The race begins with a 7.5 mile paddle down the Conemaugh River, followed by 14 miles on the bike, then a true 5k to the finish line.
Local outfitters are available to transport your gear or to provide rental boats/bikes for the event.
All proceeds benefit the West Penn Trail Maintenance Fund. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please email cvconserv@gmail.com.
