Please join us for our Annual Meeting of the CVC Membership! It’s a wonderful time to meet other CVC members, to learn about all of the things that have happened with our organization over the past year, and to hear about upcoming opportunities for growth within the Johnstown Area.
This year’s meeting will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, August 18th at the Johnstown Heritage Center (201 Sixth Ave., Johnstown, PA 15906). The entrance to the parking lot is at the intersection of Seventh & Broad Streets (Rte. 56).
We’ll enjoy a pot luck meal with friends and good conversation; and hear from our featured speaker, Dr. Kevin Patrick, as he presents “Johntown’s Future Past is Now.”
Dr. Kevin Patrick, Professor of Geography and Planning at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, will walk with us through Johnstown’s yesterday, current day, and potential future with a unique and inspiring perspective. Dr. Patrick has published numerous books and articles with a distinctive, sometimes quirky, look at historic corridors, communities, regions and landscapes. He has an electric, funny, engaging approach to presentations that are transformative for audiences, meshing together geography, transportation, and built environment, with a keen understanding of the role of environmental restoration and heritage interpretation in revitalizing communities. We promise every person in the audience will leave looking at Johnstown in a new light.
The Meal: CVC will provide chicken, drinks, plates and flatware for the meeting. We ask that you please bring a side dish to share with everyone. There will also be a cash bar available. Not a CVC member? That’s okay! Everyone is welcome to attend. If you’d like to become a CVC member, it’s easy! Sign up via our online form. CVC memberships are just $25 and include your entire household. We’ll put your membership dollars directly back into your trails and waterways.
The Agenda: The meeting will begin at 6pm with greetings and dinner, followed by CVC programs and activities at 6:30pm. The Annual Meeting of the CVC Membership will take place at 6:45pm, which will include election of board members. Directly following, the Annual Meeting of the CVC Board of Directors will commence with the election of offers and appointments to the SQI (Stonycreek-Quemahoning Initiative) Board of Directors. We’ll end the evening with our featured presentation from Dr. Patrick.
