Support your trails! The Route 22 Bicycle-Pedestrian Bridge is a critical connection for our regional trail system. Continued trail development and connections such as this one will be a foundation on which our small towns and communities can build success!
The public meeting is being held to reveal the design plans for the Route 22 Pedestrian-Bicycle Bridge from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at the Blairsville-Saltsburg School Complex at 100 School Lane, Blairsville, PA. The meeting is being hosted by the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development. Everyone is welcome.
Prior to the meeting, and the following day, cyclists are invited to join a two-day bike meet up to explore the trails.
Day One – Thursday, August 9: Riders can enjoy time on the Ghost Town Trail, with an 18-mile ride from Dilltown to Blairsville at 3:30pm or for the optional 3-mile short ride from the Saylor Park Trailhead to Blairsville at 4:30pm.
Day Two – Friday, August 10: A 26-mile ride from Blairsville to Saltburg and back is planned on the West Penn Trail. The ride will begin at the Newport Road Trailhead at 9:00am. This ride features a 13-mile section with about 50% hilly terrain to Saltsburg for lunch, and the same 13-mile return ride to Blairsville. The optional 8-mile short ride is a ride on the flat section of trail, which features historic, 100+ year old stone-arch bridges.
